SEUSSICAL
'Seussical’ is a delightful family musical which brings together many of Dr Seuss’ best loved stories in one magical adventure. Colourful characters like ‘The Cat In The Hat’, ‘The Grinch’ and ‘Horton the Elephant’ are lovingly brought to life through the beautiful music and lyrics of Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime & Once On This Island) and co-conceived by Eric Idle (Monty Python).
‘Seussical’ made its debut on Broadway in 2000 and has been heralded as an uplifting, educational, and inspirational show appealing to the young and the young at heart!
Set in the ‘Jungle Of Nool’ a place of colourful Seussian creatures, Horton (our unlikely hero) struggles, against all the odds to save the tiny world of ‘The Whos’ from destruction. Ridiculed for his belief in their existence, he is sent to court for his unconventional ‘Thinks’.
Meanwhile on the tiny planet of Who, the Mayor’s son JoJo is also misunderstood. His imagination has landed him in trouble and he is sent to General Schmitz’s Military School to sort out his uncontrolled ‘Thinking’. ‘Alone In The Universe’ Horton & JoJo become friends.
This simple, but effective storyline has both morality and integrity proving that through determination, honesty and a good heart, right can prevail against the odds and that the power of imagination can change our whole way of ‘Thinking’!
